A voice says that she has always wanted to be a show girl, has been dancing since age 5, and used to dress up... the face is on a screen, and a man touches it as the news tells that the search for the missing showgirl, Julie Walters, is still on. He says into the phone that she's so sweet, like an angel, and he never meant to hurt her. He hangs up and puts a gun in his mouth. Outside a house, the SWAT team is waiting and has their guns trained on the house. The man comes out with the gun, they tell him to drop it and freeze. They arrest him and go in to look for the girl.

The media is at the house interviewing neighbors and officers. Brass asks where the girl is, but the man says nothing. Nick finishes giving him a breathalyser and points out the cameras to Brass. Catherine and Sara show up and Brass tells them that the house is empty. Nick says that he blew 2.1; Brass tells them that the man never mentioned the show girl by name, just said "I never meant to hurt her."

Howard Delhomme is in custody; the Sheriff gives an interview on TV saying that they have a suspect, but he can't give any details at this time. Catherine and Sara are processing the house; Sara looks at the pictures that Howard has cut out and pasted around the room and says that he was unravelling. Catherine, noting the newspaper reports, comments that it's like a time-line of the crime. They can't find Julie Walters anywhere in the house, but they do find a darkroom with pictures of close-up shots of eyes; according to the business cards they find on the counter, Howard Delhomme is a professional photographer.

Brass tells Howard that the media is gone, it's just the two of them, and wants to know where the girl is, adding that nobody calls 9-1-1 unless they want to talk. Howard is silent, and Brass leaves the room.

Catherine asks who reported Julie missing; Nick says that her mother did, that Julie usually called everyday, and when she didn't, her mother called it in. Sara notes that nothing was missing from the house, and Nick says that her car was found at a pizza place, and although her purse was missing from the car, there were no signs of foul play. Catherine's beeper goes off.

Brass talks to Catherine and Grissom and shows them the wall where "I never meant to hurt anyone" is written in blood. Catherine wonders what Delhomme means by "anyone." The officers bring Delhomme down the hall; he stares at Catherine and she stares back. Brass and Sara try to get him to tell them where the body is, pointing out again that he called 9-1-1 himself, but he still won't talk. Brass tells Delhomme that they have all night; Delhomme tells them that he'll talk to the pretty one, and only her.

Catherine and Delhomme walk in the desert; Catherine asks Delhomme where the body is; cruisers and media follow them. Delhomme asks her to take her hat and sunglasses off, and tells her that she walks like a dancer; Catherine asks him what he was wearing the day that Julie disappeared; he comments on her hair. While the officers search the ground for clues, Sara asks Grissom what they're doing; Grissom tells her that they all want the same thing, and Catherine may have a way in; Sara doubts that this is helpful.

At night, the officers are still searching. Delhomme claims that he's getting confused with all the people there, and Grissom offers to have him taken back to the station. Nick comments that they still haven't found anything, and Sara adds that they don't even know if Delhomme really did it, but Catherine says that she has a feeling that he did. Nick points out to Grissom that the original missing person call was his and Sara's; Catherine says that she's the senior CSI, which Grissom corrects, saying that he's the senior CSI. Nick tells Grissom that this is the sort of case that could make a person's career, and that both he and Sara are up for promotions, so they need this case. Grissom gives it to Catherine, which makes both Nick and Sara angry.

The lab members watch the news reports on TV; the Sheriff tells Grissom not to make him look bad. Catherine has Greg helping her go over the evidence; the Sheriff wants to know why she's using the B-team on this case. Catherine and Greg go through items from Delhomme's house, looking for evidence of where he was seven days ago; Greg wants to know why Catherine doesn't have Nick helping her; he knows that Sara is angry and Warrick's off; Catherine tells him that he wanted experience, and now he's getting it. Greg finds a receipt for some food and a household item; Catherine finds a note about a car rental.

Catherine talks to the manager at the car place; he tells her that he hired Delhomme for a photo shoot, but for the car only, there was no model involved. She asks about the car; he tells her it's not a car, it's a Maserati; Catherine wants to examine the car, but he tells her that it's been detailed three times since Delhomme had it, and there'll be no evidence left in it, but Catherine insists, and tells him that for the next few hours it's her car. She examines it, and finds a hair and gives it to Greg to compare against Julie's samples.

Sara tells Nick that she can't believe that Catherine got the case; Nick points out that they're all on the same team. Sara argues that Catherine knows that she and Nick can handle the case, and she'd take herself and Nick over Catherine and Greg any day.

Catherine watches the tape that Julie made for the reality model show again. Grissom comes in and asks if there's anything there; Catherine says no. Grissom asks why she's using Greg, and Catherine tells him that Greg has no agenda; Grissom wonders about the wisdom of using a trainee on a big case.

Sara and Nick look over past cases of other missing models, and find one who used Delhomme as a photographer. They check to see where his last shoot was with her; Catherine looks in and asks how it's going, and Sara sarcastically says that it's Catherine's case, so she should tell them. Catherine notes from the odometer on the car that Delhomme drove 133 extra miles; Sara comments that if he did a photo shoot, there should be pictures soemwhere. Greg comes in and tells them that he ran the DNA from the hair and it's a match to Julie and he also found out what the household item was that Delhomme bought: a shovel. Catherine realizes that he'd already killed her; Catherine looks at the pictures from the shoot with one of the other models and recognizes the site as Devil's Mile.

They go out to Devil's Mile, looking for a body; Catherine comments to Greg that it's his chance to be a hero or rescue a princess. One of the officers shouts that he may have found something; it's a body, buried in the sand. Catherine tells the officers to search every trash can between this site and the City looking for a shovel, or Julie's purse, or anything that might belong to her. They document the scene, and slowly move the rocks away from the body while sifting through the dirt.

In the morning, Brass arrives at the site where the body is; Catherine tells him that nature preserved the body, since it wasn't too hot for much decomposition to occur. She notices that Julie's jacket is zipped up all the way, and that she's not wearing any make-up. They speculate that there might be some connection to another missing model case, that of Robin Knight, from a year previously.

Brass tells Delhomme that they found the body. Catherine asks him how it happened; Brass comments that Delhomme killed her then bought the shovel and a soda, but Delhomme says that that's not how it happened. Catherine tells him that she understands, and that he had to get the light just right if he was going to photograph Julie; Delhomme says that he'd like to photograph Catherine. Delhomme then tells them that it was an accident, that he was backing up the car, and didn't see Julie, and hit her. Catherine points out that the dealership said that there was no model booked for the shoot, but Delhomme says that he was just doing a favor for Julie, taking head shots for her because she was out and needed more.

Dr. Robbins determines that there are no injuries on Julie's body that are consistent with a car accident; she was beaten before death, and there's trauma indicating sexual assault; she also had a blood alcohol level of 1.8, which Catherine finds odd, since Julie had a meeting with the producer for the reality show that night, and wouldn't want to be drunk for that. Dr. Robbins notes that the body can produce alcohol on its own, but with the level that Julie had, she had to have had a head start.

Catherine shows the autopsy photos to Grissom and tells him that the sexual assault exam showed no semen; Grissom comments that maybe a foreign object was used.

Catherine talks to Delhomme again, and tells him that someone sat on Julie's chest; she points out that two years ago, he was arrested for something similar. She asks about the drinking on the day of the shoot, and Delhomme says that Julie was drinking and when things started between them, she never said 'stop.' He adds that he didn't say this before because he was worried about what Catherine would think of him.

On TV, Delhomme's lawyer gives an interview saying that there is evidence that will exonerate his client. Delhomme's brother shows up at the station with a package for Catherine; she tells him to put it on the counter and won't touch it. He tells her that his brother sent it to him and told him to take it to Catherine; he opens it and dumps out rolls of film; there's also a note which says to turn it over to the police if Howard is arrested.

They look at the negatives from the four rolls of film; all are pictures of Julie, and Catherine notes that the clothes that she's wearing in the pictures are not the clothes that they found her in. There's one picture that is a double-exposure of a naked body over top of the car odometer. Sara comes in and tells Catherine that they got something from a trash can, and Catherine helps Sara go through the trash. They find an envelope of Julie's head shots; Catherine realizes that Delhomme lied to them when he said that Julie was out of head shots; they also find a tissue that he used to clean her up, and Julie's day-planner, which notes the dinner with the producer and "meet Howard 2 p.m." Catherine finds the clothes that Julie was wearing in the pictures; Catherine comments that Julie would have brought different clothes with her for the shoot. They also find nylons with blood on them; Catherine notes that Delhomme told them that when he hit her with the car, her ear was bleeding, and that she was bare foot at the time.

Catherine and Sara go over evidence in the lab; they put on pantyhose and test how a round blood stain would get on the top of the foot, and a blood smear on the bottom. They determine that Julie was standing when the blood dripped from her ear onto her foot with another drop hitting the ground, which she then stepped in.

Archie goes over the double exposure picture; Nick has him separate the two pictures out so that he can see the instrument panel and the odometer of the car. He compares it to the car used when Julie went missing and finds that it's not the same car.

Catherine and Sara go over the pictures of Julie taken by Delhomme; at first she looks fine, then confused, then like she knew something was wrong. Nick comes in and tells them about his finding on the odometer; Sara comments that if it's a different car, it might be a different girl. Catherine compares the nude photo with the body of the other victim and finds something, and says that the naked picture is not Julie, then adds that if Delhomme raped Julie he did it with a foreign object, and wants to find out what it was. Sara asks if she wants to search on her own; Catherine tells Sara that she saw a look in Delhomme's eye and decided to exploit it, and Sara would have done the same thing. Catherine realizes that they're looking at the wrong evidence; Delhomme's original arrest was for brandishing a firearm. She gets the gun out of evidence and swabs it.

Catherine talks to Delhomme, and asks if he likes being alone with women; he tells her that he likes it when it's a woman like her. He tells her that Julie posed naked for him, and she never said no, he didn't force her. Catherine informs him that she found Julie's cervical tissue on the gun sight, then asks him, "What's the matter? You couldn't swallow it when you saw her all over the TV?"

A TV news report says that prosecutors will ask for a life sentence in the Delhomme case. Grissom and Catherine watch; he asks how things are with her and Sara and Nick. Catherine says that things are fine, then adds that all Delhomme had to do was stay quiet like he did in the Robin Knight case; Grissom says that Julie became the post-mortem media darling.
